At the Beach

Province Lands in September

"Nestled in the Province Lands dunes, the C-Scape Dune Shack is an hour trek from civilization and a century’s retreat from the new millennium. Just over one dune to the North is Race Point Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. To the East, West and South lie the rolling hills of beach grass and stunted trees punctuated by barren slopes of wind etched sand. The only sounds you hear are the voice of the ocean and the songs and squawks of darting birds. The only responsibilities you have are living without running water, telephone and electricity. The only obligations you are committed to are rest, reflection and creativity. It doesn’t get any better than this. The cryptic note scrawled on a piece of paper tacked to the door frame by a previous occupant says it all, “At the Beach.”                                                                                                  -Jon Vaughan, Photographer

Processes and Materials

This photograph is dry-mounted and personally hand signed by Jon Vaughan on the back, including the title, location and time of year. It is an open edition print on archival pulp paper with archival pigment inks. Please treat it with the same care you would give to watercolor art - framed behind glass and protected from direct sunlight and excessive humidity. The print is permanently dry mounted on acid-free foam board. Then an acid and lignin free mat (Crescent Select - White Sands) is custom cut and museum hinged to the mounting board. The finished piece is protected in a custom sleeve of high clarity archival Mylar film. All of the mounting, matting and framing is done at Yankee Ingenuity. Bob Korn, of Bob Korn Imaging, printed this image, as well as all of Jon Vaughan's images since 1981.
